It's 517 Day and Lansing is buzzing. If you know, you know. This is our day to celebrate everything we love about this city, and there's no better way to do it than from the water.
We're out in full force today. You might spot us at the Lugnuts game, passing out flyers and talking about all the adventures we've got lined up this season. If you see us, come say hello and let us tell you what's new.
Back at our gazebo in Rotary Park, Paul and Michelle are holding it down and sending folks out on the water all day long. Parties are heading to Fidelity Lake, paddlers are launching onto the river, and the whole operation is humming the way it should on a day like this.
And what a day it is. Eighty degrees, blue skies, sunshine pouring down on the Grand River like it was ordered just for us. The kind of day where the light hits the water and everything along the banks looks a little greener, a little more alive. You can hear the current, the birds in the trees, and not much else.
Here's the thing, though. Today is perfect, but so is tomorrow. And the day after that. We've got four solid months of paddling season stretching out ahead of us. Long summer evenings on the river. Quiet morning floats on Fidelity Lake. Weekend trips down the Red Cedar where the turtles line up on every fallen log to watch you pass.
If you've never seen Lansing from the water, you're missing the best version of this city. The skyline looks different from a kayak. The riverbanks feel wilder than you'd expect. It changes the way you think about the place you call home.
Come celebrate 517 Day with us, or pick any day this season and make it yours. Book your trip at rivertownadventures.com.
