Spring Is Almost Here and We Cannot Wait

There's a moment every year when we step outside, feel that first real warmth on our skin, and know it's almost time. The ice has cleared, the current is moving, and the Grand River is waking up. We can practically hear it calling us back.
In just a couple of weeks, we'll be back on the water, and honestly, we've been counting the days. The shop is prepped, the fleet is ready, and our team is buzzing with that familiar springtime energy that makes everything feel possible.
This season, we have a packed calendar of events that we're genuinely thrilled about. First up, our river cleanup days. There's something deeply satisfying about paddling the Grand River and the Red Cedar, pulling out debris, and watching Lansing's waterways come back to life. You get a workout, you meet incredible people, and you leave knowing you made a real difference in the place we all love.
And then there are the Flow and Glow paddles. If you haven't experienced one yet, picture this: the sun dipping below the tree line, the water going glassy and still, and dozens of glowing kayaks and paddleboards lighting up the river like a floating lantern festival. The laughter carries across the water. The city skyline reflects off the surface. It's pure magic, and it never gets old.
Spring on the river smells like wet earth and budding cottonwoods. You'll spot great blue herons standing statue-still in the shallows and turtles stacking themselves on every available log. The trees along the banks will go from bare to bright green practically overnight, and being out on the water when that transformation happens is one of the best things about living in Lansing.
Whether you're a seasoned paddler or someone who's been thinking about trying it for the first time, this is your season. Grab a friend, pick an event, and get out on the water with us.
Check out our full event schedule and book your spot at rivertownadventures.com. We'll save you a paddle.
